With the beginning of each new year, we often set out with the intention to bring our best Self forward.
The quest for personal growth leads us down a path that promises to reveal a more perfect version of ourselves. We strive to become better, to achieve more, to outshine our past selves. Yet what if the true essence of this journey is not about reaching a new level of perfection, but rather, a profound exploration of the Self and a deeper relationship with the Divine?
To move towards our true gifts and genius we first must understand where our conscious and unconscious impulses pull us in opposite directions. This often happens out of fear. It's not just a fear of failure, but also the fear of being exposed because we are asked to reveal what we consider unworthy, unlovable or unrefined about ourselves. Often, we attempt to manifest our genius by masking this part of our nature in hopes of avoiding this exact fear. Yet this kind of success remains short-lived, because it's rooted in comparison to what we think we ought to be, rather than who we truly are.
The antidote, of course, is trust. Trust as a necessary companion of faith. Trust will not make you immune to challenges but faith will act as a potent anchor amidst the storm of life's ever shifting vicissitudes.
When we align with our authentic gifts and trust our deepest purpose, life's challenges transform from roadblocks into constructive instruments, masterfully chiseling away at our insecurities and unworthiness and transforming them into acceptance and love.
Have you ever noticed how self-love defuses the urgency to please others, to conform to their expectations, and, in turn, ignites a desire to contribute meaningfully to the world?
Such a perspective demands shedding outdated beliefs and relinquishing the obsessive pursuit of perfection. Could one of the greatest sacrifices we are called to make this year lie in giving up the expectations that others place upon us? And therein empower ourselves to unfurl into the fullness of who we truly are?
This journey of self-discovery is a deeply emotional and transformative one. It's not about pursuing an unattainable goal of perfection but rather, about becoming clear channels for the Divine to work through us.
To do so, we must be willing to shed the masks we wear and embrace our vulnerabilities as teachers of courage. The path towards our gifts is a quest for authenticity where we learn to define ourselves. Not in comparison to others but in our own unique expression. It's a journey worth embarking upon, for within it we discover the depth of our soul’s clarion call and the courage to answer it.
