SHIPIBO CHANTING INTRO COURSE
Deepen your knowledge of this ancient healing practice
This five-week class is designed to introduce you to the basic principles of Shipibo chanting.
The goal of each class module is to teach you the building blocks of how to construct your own basic chant. Whether you have dieted many times, or never at all, this course will exponentially boost your ability to chant in Shipibo.
You will receive guidance and personalized feedback each week on the verses that you write for homework.
During our weekly “virtual maloca” sessions, you’ll have the opportunity to share (chant) your new verses with the group and receive direct input from the instructor and the other participants.
For students who have completed Shipibo diets, and learned some basic concepts, this class will help you deepen and refresh your knowledge. For those students who haven’t yet dieted, this class will give you a better understanding of Shipibo chanting technology and encourage you to open your voice and begin to "freestyle" in Shipibo.
What this course will teach you & what you will gain:
-
Overview of basic structure of a Shipibo icaro and how to construct your own, five verse chant.
-

“I came into this course with a little knowledge of both the Shipibo language and singing icaros, however, I left with much more than I could have hoped for. Robin is so gracious in sharing his insight and what he's learned over the years, and his generous, warm-hearted nature illuminates within him a noticeably high level of respect for the sacredness of the plants and working with them. Apart from learning grammatical basics and expanding vocabulary, we had the opportunity to sing and support others in an intimate community. Robin is truly a gifted teacher. The classes were grounded, well-paced, and well-organized. I finished this course with an absolute abundance of information to continue my personal healing journey. So grateful for this offering.”

"Robin's class offered incredibly valuable teachings. Not only do I feel more comfortable working with Shipibo chanting, but Robin's class has expanded and positively effected my practice of medicine music in general. Robin's ability to combine a very linear (western) approach to learning, with some very intangible work, makes his material accessible and profound!"
